She/her
Kara Bussey is a stained glass artist and educator working under the name Glimpse Glass.
Based in Calgary, she has been working with glass for over 25 years and established Glimpse Glass in 2013. She creates whimsical 3D floral sculptures and wearable glass using copper foil stained glass, copper wire, and found objects. Her work bends the rules of traditional glass, using fragility as a strength and exploring themes of growth, resilience, and quiet introspection.
With a background in communications and public relations, Kara is deeply invested in teaching and storytelling. She has taught stained glass internationally and authored Stained Glass for Beginners (2021). Education remains central to her practice, with a focus on making stained glass accessible and fun.
Kara works between her home studio and her space at NVRLND, often alongside her two young daughters and one marshmallow of a cat. Outside the studio, she spends time rock climbing and immersed in nature, using movement and landscape as a way to reset, gather inspiration, and return to the work with intention.
