FAQs

What kind of events is the boutique used for?

Our vision for the boutique is to support the arts community within Calgary, and provide easily transformable flex space for any art practice. Since its inception it has been used for gallery shows, photoshoots, figure drawing, small concerts, rehearsal space, workshops, music videos, children art classes and secret pop up shops.

What is your cancellation policy?

Things come up, we get it. If you need to cancel more than two weeks out from the event, you will receive a full refund. If you need to cancel between 7-14 days before the event, you will receive 50% refund. Less than a week out, we will be unable to refund your event.

What are the responsibilities of the booker?

Most importantly it is the renters responsibility to provide a safe space for all attendees of their event. That includes:

•Sign an event contract

•Submit an event request form for any amenities requested

•Perform a walkthrough of the space before loading in

•Clean and reset the space to how it was originally received

•Considering proper insurance for your event

•Following the most current AHS guidelines for vaccinations and Covid 19 protocol (supplemental contract may apply)

What is the capacity of the space?

For private events the max capacity is 45 people. For public events the capacity is 90 people fluctuating in and out of the boutique.

A private event is classified as a static number of people in the space example: a workshop or ticketed event.

A public event is classified as an event where people will be coming and going during the duration of your event, and a private event your patrons will remain for the duration of your event.

Can we serve alcohol during our event?

Absolutely! It is the responsibility of the renter to secure the proper license, staff the bar (it is mandatory that at least one person has ProServe)

There are two different kinds of liquor licenses: Private or Public. Private means invite only, and the door is manned to manage RSVPs and attendance. Public means that you have publicly promoted the event and that anyone is welcome to attend. This type of license takes longer to procure, so please plan accordingly.

For more information please refer to the Alberta Liquor License Handbook

How far out do I need to book?

As soon as you know your dates, let’s get it in the calendar!

Friday-Sundays book up very quickly so it is highly recommended that you try and book the nvrlnd. Boutique at least a month or two in advance. We also suggest that you have alternative dates that you would be open to having your event on.

What is the process of booking?

First point of contact can be made via our website, via our booking request form.

After you have sent it off, you will hear from us shortly, where we will either set up a time to view the space and continue the booking in person, or if you have rented the space before, or from out of town, we will continue the booking with you online.

After deciding on renting the space, you will then sign our event contract, fill out our event request form and we are set. Time to start planning your event!

Is insurance needed for my event?

It is not mandatory to have insurance but highly recommended to cover you for damage, stolen goods as well as injury to any patrons of the renters event

What is the parking like?

There are three parking stalls located behind the boutique for a convenient  load in and out. There is also a large parking lot located on the west side of the studio building as well as free street parking in front of all of our buildings. So in summary, there is lots of parking.
