Chidera Uzoka is a digital painter and independent artist based in Calgary, Canada, where she runs Dera Art Studio.

Her artistic journey has led her across a wide spectrum of creative projects, from album covers and children’s books to custom commissions, with clients spanning the USA, UK, and Canada.

Chidera’s practice bounces between oil painting and digital art, allowing her to create works that carry the depth of traditional oil painting while embracing modern techniques. Her art explores themes of identity, culture, and faith, being centred on the beauty and strength of Black narratives.

She has been recognized with multiple awards from the Nigerian Canadian Association of Calgary (NCAC) and featured in publications such as Black Art Magazine and Mount Royal University’s Alumni Magazine.The name Chidera, meaning “what God has written,” serves as the foundation of her vision. Each piece reflects her belief that all people are created in the image of God and are part of a greater story.

Through her art, Chidera aims to inspire others to create, grow, and see beauty in the stories of those around them.
