On Being A Part Of NVRLND
Since moving to Calgary almost 10 years ago, I have searched to
replicate an arts hub/building that I was part of while in Toronto.
While I find there is an abundance of tremendously unique and
versatile artists in Calgary, I also find many are siloed in their own
spaces, which hinders collaboration, something that is vital to the
growth of our community.
During my 5 month tenure at NVRLND, my creativity and productivity
have increased dramatically. I have mixed an album project for NVRLND
co-founder Carsten Rubeling, and collaborated on projects with NVRLND
residents Wyatt Bronson and Mat Martel. Among other projects I have
produced and mixed songs for Toronto based artist Conrad the Third,
and produced a 6 song EP for Edmonton based emerging artist Dempsey
Bolton. Both artists travelled to Calgary to work with us at NVRLND.
Additionally, I am teaching an 8 week comprehensive course on the
modern music business in the NVRLD Boutique running April 10 through
May 29. Through this masterclass series we will help educate and
empower approximately 15-20 emerging musical artists in our community.
As a musician / music producer, I am always balancing opportunities
for highly creative and collaborate projects with the realities of
meeting my financial responsibilities. NVRLND is proving to be a
remarkable community, providing an affordable and highly collaborative
space where I am creating some of the best work of my career.
I'm a passionate and full-time noisemaker, songwriter, musician,
producer and consultant - dedicated to making original music, helping
great Artists find their unique identity, and helping those Artists
realize their dreams.
